Senator the Hon. Delano Seiveright is an experienced public servant whose dynamic career reflects a steadfast commitment to national development, particularly within the tourism sector. 

As a seasoned strategist and public policy specialist, Senator Seiveright has a wealth of experience in governance, tourism development and international stakeholder engagement. Throughout his career, he has played a crucial role in policy discussions and advocacy, contributing to the development of key legislation and shaping policies that affect investment, tourism, economic growth and cannabis law reform.

Senator Seiveright's appointment as Minister of State followed a period of dedicated service as Senior Communications Strategist in the Ministry of Tourism. In this role, he was a key driver of several strategic initiatives, working closely with the Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, and other members of the tourism team to help lay the foundation for record-setting growth in Jamaica's tourism sector. This collaborative effort directly contributed to the expansion of the industry, solidifying its status as a critical economic driver and enhancing Jamaica's position as a premier global tourist destination.

Senator Seiveright's leadership goes beyond the tourism sector. He has provided consulting services to various companies and individuals, focusing on corporate communications, public affairs, business development and international investment. His leadership experience includes serving on the boards of numerous organizations, such as Jamaica Promotions (JAMPRO); the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB); the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo); the Cannabis Licensing Authority (CLA) and the National Insurance Fund (NIF), to name a few. These roles underscore his versatility and dedication to Jamaica’s socio-economic advancement.

Within the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), Senator Seiveright has been a dynamic force, serving as one of the youngest members of its Central Executive and as the youngest President of Generation 2000 (G2K), the political party’s young professional arm. His strategic insights have been invaluable in shaping policies and programmes that drive sustainable development and national growth.

In his current capacity as Minister of State, he continues to champion initiatives that enhance Jamaica’s tourism product, ensuring the sector’s resilience and competitiveness on the global stage. His primary focus is on increasing the linkages between the tourism sector and the wider economy, ensuring that more Jamaicans benefit directly from the vital industry.

A former radio talk show host and newspaper columnist, Senator Seiveright actively engages in media and public discourse, providing insights on economic, policy and tourism related issues. Senator Seiveright attended Calabar High School, and the University of the West Indies, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. He then pursued studies at the University of London, where he secured a Master of Science degree in Public Policy and Management.
